Private Swimming · Broadmeadows Leisure Centre

Ayaan · Age 6

From tears at the pool gate to floating on his back.

Honestly, Ayaan used to cry the whole drive to swimming. I nearly gave up. Six weeks in with Raising Heroes he was walking in on his own. Nobody rushed him. That's the bit that changed everything for us.

Priya, Ayaan's mum, Craigieburn

Progress observed

  • Walks into the pool without prompting
  • Independent 3-second back float
  • Follows two-step instructions in water
Practical Skills · Craigieburn Learning Centre

Isla · Age 5

Ready for prep, with the confidence to match.

We were pretty worried about school. Isla couldn't sit still and holding a pencil was a fight. Weirdly, her sessions were the only place she asked to go back to. Her prep teacher pulled me aside on day two and said she was one of the most settled kids in the room.

Nathan, Isla's dad, Sunbury

Progress observed

  • Pencil grip and letter tracing
  • Following three-step routines
  • Sitting for a 20-minute task
Movement & Coordination · Meadow Heights

Marcus · Age 8

Coordination that finally clicked.

Marcus has dyspraxia. Group classes wiped him out and he'd shut down. In one-on-one sessions he stopped comparing himself to the other kids and just... started trying again. He can ride a two-wheeler now. We honestly thought that wouldn't happen.

Sarah, Marcus's mum, Meadow Heights

Progress observed

  • Rides a two-wheeler independently
  • Cross-body coordination sequences
  • Ball catching improved from 1/10 to 7/10
Dance & Creative Movement · Broadmeadows Global Learning Centre

Noor · Age 7

Found her voice through rhythm.

Noor is autistic and mostly non-speaking. Dance gave her a way to say something without words. She hums the warm-up song at home now. First time we've ever seen her lead something. I actually cried the first time she did.

Fatima, Noor's mum, Roxburgh Park

Progress observed

  • Initiates a movement sequence unprompted
  • Tolerates music for a full 30 minutes
  • Greets instructor by name
Private Swimming · Splash Aqua Park Craigieburn

Lachlan · Age 9

Safer around water, every summer.

Lachie has ADHD and group swim just didn't work. His instructor made every session feel like a game so he never noticed he was actually learning. Two terms in he can swim 15m freestyle. More importantly, he knows what to do if he ends up in deep water.

Emily, Lachlan's mum, Craigieburn

Progress observed

  • 15m freestyle unassisted
  • Recognises and responds to water-safety cues
  • Focus in-session up from 5 to 20 minutes
Practical Skills · Sunbury

Amara · Age 4

Learning to trust a new adult.

Amara has PBS goals and would not stay with any new adult. The first session was literally done from our car boot until she was ready. That kind of patience isn't something you find at a regular class. We were shocked.

Grace, Amara's mum, Sunbury

Progress observed

  • Attends 45-minute session independently
  • Uses visual schedule with instructor
  • Two-way communication during activities
