Our Approach

More than an activity.A place to build confidence, capability and independence.

Every child learns and participates differently. Some need more time, fewer distractions, a familiar routine or an instructor who can adapt the activity as the session unfolds. Raising Heroes creates individual programs that make space for those differences, through movement, water, music and practical activities, in a calm, unhurried environment.

01

Understand the child first

We begin with a conversation, not a curriculum. Interests, sensory preferences, comfort levels and family goals shape the plan before a single session runs.

02

Design a personal program

A tailored pathway across water, movement, rhythm or practical skills, paced to your child, revised as they grow, never forced to fit a group timetable.

03

Deliver one-on-one, always

One instructor. One child. A calm, predictable environment where trying, resting and trying again are all part of the session.

04

Reflect and share progress

Personal notes after each session, small wins, next steps and honest reflections shared with parents and, where relevant, support coordinators.

Who We Support

Support shaped around the child, not a label.

We welcome children with a wide range of abilities, personalities and support needs. Below are some of the children who most often benefit from our sessions.

Autism

Autistic children

Predictable structure, sensory-considered spaces and one familiar instructor. Sessions adjust to the child, never the other way around.

ADHD

Children with ADHD

Shorter task cycles, movement-based learning and immediate feedback keep engagement steady without the pressure of a full classroom.

Coordination

Dyspraxia & coordination differences

Patient, unhurried repetition of physical skills so children can build coordination and confidence without comparison to peers.

Speech

Speech, language & PBS goals

Warm, low-pressure sessions that reinforce communication and behaviour goals set by families and their allied health team.

School Ready

Children preparing for school

Fine-motor skills, routines, following instructions and quiet confidence, the practical foundations for a settled start to prep.

All Kids

Any child who thrives one-on-one

A formal diagnosis is never required. Many families simply want their child to learn to swim or move with real, personal attention.

We begin by understanding the child, not by making assumptions about them.

Parent observations

“More willing to enter the water without prompting this fortnight. Talking about her instructor at home.”

Why this matters

Different children need different rooms.

Whether your child is autistic, has ADHD, or simply thrives in a calmer setting, the way a session is run matters as much as what is taught.

Autism spectrum

Why routine and one-on-one work matters for autistic children.

Predictable structure, sensory-considered environments and a single, familiar adult reduce cognitive load and support genuine skill-building instead of just coping.

ADHD

How pace, novelty and movement help children with ADHD engage.

Shorter task cycles, immediate feedback and physical activity all support attention regulation. A group class rarely offers this; a one-on-one session is built for it.

Neurotypical children

Confidence, water safety and coordination for every child.

Not every child needs an NDIS plan to benefit from private, personalised instruction. Many families simply want their child to feel confident and safe in the water or on the move.

Our Promise to Families

A personal way of working, built on trust, consistency and care.

Raising Heroes was created to give children more individual time, flexibility and encouragement than many group environments can offer. What follows is what every family can expect from us, and how we work alongside NDIS-supported families.

01

Individual planning

Every session is prepared for your child, never adapted from a group template.

02

Child-safe practices

Working With Children Checks, first aid and child-safe principles across every session.

03

Clear communication

Honest reflections, plain-language notes and open conversation with families.

04

Consistent structure

The same instructor, the same calm routine, the same welcoming space.

For NDIS Families
